Dear PCI Students, Staff, and Friends,

It is with a heavy heart that after years of providing professional career training to hundreds of Pittsburghers with the pathway to well-paying, rewarding health care careers, PCI has made the very difficult decision to cease operations.

This decision stems primarily from the United States Department of Education’s decision to revoke its recognition of PCI’s institutional accreditor, which was effective on August 19, 2022. One of the consequences of that revocation was that PCI was required to cease enrolling new students in its degree programs. In the time since August 19th, PCI has worked tirelessly in an effort to secure new opportunities that would allow the school to continue operations until such time as the USDOE’s restrictions were removed. Unfortunately, PCl’s efforts have been unsuccessful, and as a result PCI has made the very difficult decision to close the school.

Effective immediately, PCI will begin a discontinuation of operations, entering the campus into a “teach-out.” Our teachout process allows students a reasonable opportunity to complete their program of study. Some students will have the opportunity to complete their programs before PCI’s closure date, while other students will have the ability to transfer to other local institutions where they can finish their programs. Students will be contacted directly about a program completion plan. This plan is a partnership between students and PCI to ensure they are able to complete the remainder of their academic program.

While the last day of instruction is scheduled for Wednesday, November 23, 2022, PCI will retain representatives on campus until December 31, 2022, to work with students completing externship and clinical programs and to assist other students with transfers and transcript requests.

We are committed to delivering on our promise to provide students with the knowledge and skills needed to pursue success in their chosen careers. Career services, academic support, and financial aid will continue to be available on campus throughout the teach-out period, with Career Services remaining available to our graduates for a period beyond campus closure.

We understand that news of this decision will be met with some level of uncertainty, and we are committed to keeping you informed of our progress through ongoing communication. Information and updates regarding this transition will be delivered during classroom visits, via mail and e-mail. We are honored that you chose PCI. We are committed to providing a quality education and to fulfilling our commitment to help students reach their career goals, and we pledge our total support in assisting students through this transition.
